| Email Marketing Migration Q&A |
ERUUF will soon be able to send out emails without limit – you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers! Why are you doing this?We have found a new email marketing service provider that will enable ERUUF to send you emails without limit for just $26.00 per month. We know that, in general, you get too much email every day. But we want to be able to keep you informed of news and notices without having the concern of exceeding a fixed cap on the number of emails we can send per month. We also want to make it easier for you to "opt-in" and "opt-out" of receiving emails by empowering you to be able to do so via our website at www.eruuf.org . We have noticed that many emails we send to recipients go unopened. We want you to receive only the emails that you want to receive, and we want to have an email list of those who really want to hear from us. We want to be able to send news and notices of Congregational Meetings, business meetings, and other special events to the right people. We want to have the capacity to send you a weekly newsletter when we are able to publish one!
Will I have to contact the office if I want to receive emails from ERUUF? No! We will want enable you to go to our website, indicate whether you are a Member, Friend, Visitor, a UU from afar, or just someone who is curious, and subscribe to receive our newsletter. What if I need to update my email address, or my telephone, or change my status or preferences? At the bottom of every email you receive, there will be a link that says, “UPDATE MY PROFILE.” Click on that link, fill out a pop-up form, and you’ll be done! Let’s say that in the future, you change your mind and you want to stop receiving Currents by email, but still want to receive other news and notices from ERUUF by email. You would update your profile, uncheck the box that says that you want to receive Currents by email, and you will still receive other news and notices by email. What if I want to stop receiving emails from ERUUF altogether? In every email you will be able to click on a link that says “UNSUBSCRIBE” What if I change my mind or accidentally unsubscribe myself? If you contact our office we will manually resubscribe you. How do you ensure this process is safe and secure? The provider will send you a confirmation email to your email address to which you will have to respond. It will be a two step process: you sign up, change or unsubscribe, and then confirm your choice. What will the sign up form look like?We are ironing out the design. But as of now, to sign up to receive emails, you will fill out your contact information, then check a box indicating if you are a Member, Friend, Visitor, a UU from near or far, or just curious, if you want to receive Currents by email each month, and, if you do not already do so, if you want to receive Currents by mail. What about notices of Congregational or Special Business Meetings?By checking those boxes, you create segments, or groups. We can target emails pertaining to the affairs of the Fellowship by targeting specific groups when we send out an email. We will verify whether you are a Member or a Friend (someone who pledges to ERUUF but has not signed the Member Book), so please, check those boxes only if they reflect your true status. What if I get Currents in the mail now?If you get Currents in the mail, that won't change. I am a member. Will I continue to get special letters and notices by mail?If you are a member and we have mailed you special letters and notices by mail, that won't change. Will I still be able to download the web version of Currents from the ERUUF website? If you want to download a publicly available copy of Currents from our website, that won't change (nor will our practice of removing personal contact information from that copy to protect your privacy).
Do I have to sign up on the website to ensure ERUUF still maintains my information apart from e-mailings?We have and will maintain a separate database in our office of our members, friends and visitors that is unaffected by and unrelated to emailing. We won't lose you. What if a problem arises with the new service provider? We are keeping our old email marketing service provider, and our old email database, for another month, just to make sure this transition goes smoothly. We have the ability to "mothball" that email database - and bring out of storage if necessary. |
