Sunday Services

There are two Sunday morning services at 9:30 am and 11:15 am from mid-September through mid-June.

In the summer from June 13 through Septemeber 5 we have one Sunday service at 10:30 am.

All services are followed by social time in our Fellowship Hall where you can find fair trade coffee and tea, a friendly visitor host who will help you get oriented, and lots of information about classes, groups and activities of the fellowship. People will be friendly and talk to you, but if you’re shy you can browse our bookstore, also located in the Fellowship Hall.

A Celebration of Life

Each service begins by sounding a temple bell and settling into quiet. This is followed by a welcome, musical prelude, opening words, chalice lighting, and hymn. We greet one another, hear a story for all ages, share joys and sorrows, and occasionally hear from a guest who might briefly speak about an important topic. We have silent meditation and spoken prayers, and readings from sources as diverse as the world’s religions, modern poetry or the front page of the newspaper. Often we hear reflections from our own members as well as a minister’s sermon. Every week there’s a chance to affirm our commitment to our chosen faith and practice generosity through our giving as we pass the plate. The service ends with singing and words for going forth.

What Brings You Here?

Life can sometimes take a lot away from a person during the course of a week. Sorrow, sadness, confusion and longing sometimes urge us out on Sunday morning to seek solace. We come to worship to gather ourselves back together into a meaningful whole once more.  Our services affirm that people can heal, in fact are designed to do so, and that often we’re stronger in the places that were once broken and raw.

Each of us has more capacity than we sometimes acknowledge or engage. Sometimes we’re searching for a new direction after a wake up call, or looking for ideas of possible new directions at a new stage of life. Our worship services affirm that human beings continue to grow and change throughout our lifetime, and that we can inspire and support one another in doing bigger, bolder, more generous things with our life.

The world is sometimes in a state of tumult, and it can be overwhelming. At times we come to a service to be inspired and also challenged to take action for positive change. Our Sunday services affirm our human capacity to think, create, and take action for the greater good; we lift up the truth that one person can make a big difference, and that it’s fine to start with small measures, right now, today.
