SELMA -- Fighting for Voting Rights in 1965 Alabama
The Multicultural Team invites you to a viewing and discussion of Selma. In 1965, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr (David Oyelowo), and his brothers and sisters in the movement, led a dangerous campaign for equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The campaign culminated in the epic march from Selma to Montgomery; resulted in President Johnson (Tom Wilkinson) signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965; and forever changed history. This important and moving film was directed by Ava Du Vernay.
