Communications Coordinator Job Description

Purpose: This position has primary responsibility to manage communications to promote events and activities of the Fellowship, to support the Director of Administration on projects and programs, and to provide administrative support to office and program staff as directed. The Communications Coordinator must work collegially with volunteers and is often the first point of contact for Members, Friends, visitors and vendors.

Reports to: Director of Administration (DA).

Supervises: No direct supervision of other staff.

FLSA: Non-exempt from overtime.

Work Schedule: 35-40 hours/week. Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:30 AM to 6 PM. Includes two Sundays mornings per month (8:00 am – 1 pm).

Communication Tasks
• Plan and implement a communications strategy for members, leaders and staff.
• Create and produce weekly E-News from bulletin and submissions.
• Manage web calendar for all events.
• Create and produce on deadline, weekly Order of Service and Bulletin using MS Publisher, in consultation with Lead Minister, other ministers, guest speakers, Dir. of Music and DA.
• Assist appropriate staff members in production and distribution of periodic communications, including programs for memorial services. This includes maintaining mailing and email lists.
• Implement systems for timely posting of web articles and updates for upcoming events, services, programs, calendar, and podcasts.
• Contact staff to maintain and manage weekly blog posts.
• Monitor and coordinate regular social media communications and online presence of the organization.
• Review all promotional material to create coherent branding for programs and events.
• Assess and report on the effectiveness of communications strategies.
• Coordinate/support event planning--meetings, classes, registrations for staff and leaders.
• Integrate information flow between room calendar, web calendar, and electronic newsletter.
• Provide AV technical support and training for workshops, events, and classes.
• Manage photos for campus events, web, e-news and other materials as needed.

Essential Functions
• Welcome and assist anyone who visits the office.
• Support staff and members with registrations, mailing labels/lists, email lists, directory, attendance, email accounts, and contact lists.
• Coordinate support needs with appropriate staff members for the Adult Programs Team.
• Assist appropriate staff members in conducting electronic surveys when needed.
• Maintain specific public areas of the Fellowship in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Provide general admin support to Lead Minister and others, as directed by the DA; perform any other duties assigned by the DA or Lead Minister.
• Work with staff and volunteers to provide material and coordinate bulletin board updates.
• Support staff and room set up for Sunday services.
• Coordinate internal (bulletin, handouts) and external print jobs (envelopes, cards)

Minimum Qualifications
• College degree preferred.
• Three – five years experience in an office environment or equivalent;
• Strong computer, software and Internet skills; solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, and Publisher; ability to learn new software, to include Google Drive and Forms, database management, web calendar, and web design software.
• Web experience essential (Joomla, HTML, a plus).
• Audio-Visual tech experience a plus. Ability to operate or learn to operate general office equipment, to include standard copier; automatic folding machine.

Physical Requirements
• Able to sit for moderate periods of time.
• Able to operate a standard computer and keyboard, multi-function telephone and other office equipment as listed above.
• Able to move freely in and out of buildings.
• Able to stoop and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Able to extend hands and arms above head.

This position is 35-40hours/week. Rate: $16-18/hour
