The Multicultural Team engages in these initiatives to further the goals of racial equity and inclusion:
Outreach to Community -the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) initiative currently meeting and conducting programs at NC Central University is making students and faculty at the school aware of UU values and principals
Adult RE initiatives
- First Sunday Conversations holds discussions of current events/topics of interest to members on the first Sunday of each month
- Wednesday Connections Classes conducted each session
- film /video discussion series in the summer and fall.
Religious Education Initiative –workshops on equity and racial inclusion for teachers and parents
Membership Initiatives - annual training for greeters and visitor hosts
Life at ERUUF Initiatives - workshops on equity and racial inclusion for the Pastoral Care Associates
Beloved Conversations - participants in the original Dismantling Racism workshop*, which addressed racism, meet monthly with others who wish to continue deeper conversations about diversity and multicultural issues. *Beloved Conversations is an experiential curriculum, developed by Mark Hicks and offered over eight 2-hour sessions, that provides a space to re-form/fuse the brokenness of racism into new patterns of thought and behavior ushering in social and spiritual healing.
