Ways To Give
Members are expected to support the congregation through giving generously within their means of money, time, and talent. While visitors are not expected to contribute any of those three treasures, regular visitors (aka “friends”) may want to consider generosity as a spiritual practice that helps align your values with your actions. Many members find that when they invest in ERUUF with their money, time, and talent, they feel more engaged and committed to the Fellowship, and more a part of all the transformative activities that make this Fellowship so valuable.
Generosity is a spiritual practice that is encouraged by every world religion. When we give generously we open our hearts as well as our wallets, and this helps create a feeling of kinship with fellow human beings; it helps us feel connected to something larger than ourselves.

Creating an opportunity for the ERUUF community to practice generosity every other month, ERUUF gives away the collection plate offering from a designated Sunday to an organization aligned with UU values and working for social justice. The Generosity Sunday Committee reviews nominations of potential organizations to select the recipients. In our decisions, we strive to support ERUUF's commitment to increase equality, justice and peace among members of the world community.
Gifts of stock to non-profit organizations provide a way to leverage the value of securities held for more than one year. At the time of the donation you can get a tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the stock. Here are details for transferring appreciated securities to ERUUF.
We invite you to create a legacy of giving to help sustain ERUUF’s vision into the future. Also known as planned giving, legacy giving typically designates assets in your estate and comes to fruition upon your passing. At its simplest, you create a legacy when you include ERUUF in your will. Legacy gifts may also come from insurance or retirement accounts or charitable trusts. Members of the Planned Giving Team are available to answer questions and assist with establishing a legacy gift.
ERUUF supports two giving circles: Shared Giving and InfUUsions. Between them, they have given about $200,000 to local organizations over the past twelve years. Their members report that it is a powerful way for them to put UU principles into action; to realize their potential to effect change; to learn more about non-profit organizations; to benefit our community with money and, often, with volunteer time.
Give from your IRA (if age 70½ or older): Regardless of whether you itemize your taxes, gifting funds from your IRA to ERUUF or the Foundation helps you fulfill your required minimum distribution and is not considered taxable income.
Referred to as a qualified charitable distribution or simply a charitable IRA rollover, you can use funds from your traditional IRA to donate to a qualified charity, including ERUUF or the Foundation. If you are age 70½ or older, you can donate funds from your IRA without it being considered a taxable distribution.
