Nontheist Group (Virtual Meeting)
What social factors affect whether nonbelievers publicly identify as atheists? It’s well known that the numbers of religiously unaffiliated in the U.S. has increased in recent decades, yet many nonbelievers do not publicly claim to be atheist or even agnostic. Social scientists who study religion examine factors that may be driving this phenomenon. The online news source “The Conversation” published an evidence-based article titled, 'The number of religious ‘nones’ has soared, but not the number of atheists – and as social scientists, we wanted to know why'. Join us in discussing personal perspectives, ideas, and thoughts as we explore this research.
We are a community of non-theists within the Unitarian Universalist tradition. Together, we explore the human experience and support each other in personal growth and in working toward the greater good.
In-person meetings are held on the second Sunday of each month. Online meetings are held on the thirdTuesday of each month.
