Location: Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (ERUUF), Durham, NC

Purpose: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to support our worship services and special events by managing the technical aspects of our live broadcasts. The Media/Sound Assistant supports the production of ERUUF’s worship services and assists with audio/visual needs for special events throughout the year. This role works closely with the Worship Producer, ministers, musicians, and volunteer tech team to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for both in-person and online participants. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys live production, media technology, and collaborative teamwork in a community-centered environment.

Reports to: Office Administrator

Compensation: Position is part-time. $20 per hour (8-10 weeks training); $25 after training.
$25/hour for worship services; $30/hour for special events.

FLSA: Exempt from overtime.

Supervises: No direct supervision of other staff

Work Schedule: Final schedule of hours to be determined with the Office Administrator:

Sundays 8:45 AM – 11:30 AM (May-August), (8:00-1:00 Sept - mid-May)
5-6 hours per week with at least one Sunday off per month.
Special Events: On-call support for worship-related and special events.

Essential Functions:
Operate cameras during worship services and special events to ensure high-quality video output.
Manage and broadcast services using livestream software and equipment, ensuring smooth transitions and no interruptions.
Set up, troubleshoot, and manage technical equipment, including Restream, Pearl, Extron, and PowerPoint.
Collaborate with the worship and production teams to ensure a cohesive and professional livestream experience.
Assist with sound equipment setup and management as needed (sound technician experience is a plus).
Availability for on-call hours to support special events outside of regular Sunday services.

Worship Production:
Assist with setup and operation of sanctuary A/V systems for worship services.
Run or support media slides, livestream broadcast, and/or camera operation.
Assist with sound system setup and microphone management.
Support the volunteer tech team during service production.
Assist with pre-service tech checks and troubleshooting.
Help strike and reset sanctuary tech equipment after services.

Media & Broadcast Support:
Assist with livestream production and recording of services.
Assist with uploading or organizing recorded service media when needed.

Special Events Support:
Provide A/V support for memorial services, concerts, lectures, and other ERUUF events.
Assist with tech setup for external rentals when needed.
Support livestream or recording for special services.

Qualifications:
Experience with audio/visual equipment, livestreaming, or media production.
Proficiency working with computers, presentation software, and streaming platforms.
Experience with Restream, Pearl, Extron, and PowerPoint is a plus.
Familiarity with sound systems, microphones, cameras, or projection.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently under pressure.
Ability to work calmly in a live production environment.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff, volunteers, and external groups with a spirit of service.
Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Flexible schedule for occasional evening or special event support.

Physical Requirements:
Able to sit for moderate periods of time.
Able to operate a standard computer and keyboard, and other office equipment.
Able to move freely in and out of buildings.
Able to move light equipment and cables (up to 25 lbs).
Able to stand, move around the sanctuary, and adjust equipment.
Able to operate cameras, computers, and audio boards.
