UU Justice NC's Friday Action Hour - Friday, October 3rd at 11:00am. This week we will be joined by Noel Nickle, Executive Director of the North Carolina Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty. She will speak about NC House Bill 307 that, among other harmful policies, seeks to expand NC’s execution methods to include firing squads and other inhumane practices. Then we will take action trying to defeat this bill through a sustained veto.

Call to Action! Tell Governor Stein: Veto HB 307! This bill, which passed in the NC General Assembly last week, was drafted in response to the tragic Charlotte incident. Yet, it does not address the mental health system failures at the root of the problem - rather it expands punishment. If HB 307 becomes law, it will also fast-track executions, ignore real solutions to public safety, and open the door to new execution methods like firing squad and electrocutions. Our lawmakers should seek effective ways to reduce crime and protect the public. This bill is not the answer. Click here to tell Governor Stein to Veto HB 307.
