UU Justice NC's Friday Action Hour - Friday June 13th at 11:00am. This Friday, we will be joined by Hibah Elawad of the Free James Richardson Campaign. James Richardson's case is widely regarded as one of the most egregious wrongful conviction cases in our nation, but this August there will be a hearing in Greenville, NC that could lead to his exoneration and release. Join us to learn how you can support this summer's advocacy campaign to help win justice for James. We'll also get on the phones, calling on Gov. Stein to veto the Anti-Immigration bills SB153 and HB318. Review this week's resources and actions on our Google Doc, Join via this Zoom Link and sign up for our Friday Action Hour Weekly Email here.

Call to Action! Tell Governor Josh Stein to Veto Anti-Immigration Bills. This week, the NC General Assembly passed anti-immigration bills SB153 and HB318. Unfortunately, we have reason to believe that Governor Stein still needs convincing to veto these bills and protect our immigrant neighbors.

Call Governor Josh Stein at 919-814-2000

Basic Script

Hi my name is ____ I am a resident of ______and I am a person of faith / conscience. I join others across the state in urging you to veto HB318 - the Expansion of Cooperation with ICE bill and SB153 the so-called "Border Protection Act"

Despite the vital role immigrant communities play in our state, this harmful anti-immigrant legislation would disempower already vulnerable communities, promote racial profiling, and strain the trust between immigrants and public institutions.

Do the people of North Carolina have your commitment to veto these three bills? Thank you for your time, and I would appreciate a response back from the Governor.
