UU Justice NC's Friday Action Hour - Friday March 21st at 11:00am. One is four people in NC depend on Medicaid for affordable healthcare. Any federal funding cuts to this program would be catastrophic for our state. This week, we'll take action writing Letters to the Editor calling on congress to defend Medicaid. We'll also continue to call for the release of Mahmoud Khalil, and call our state legislators about a series of bad bills moving through the General Assembly. CALL TO ACTION: Last week, the Trump administration illegally arrested and detained Mahmoud Khalil, a lawful permanent resident and recent graduate of Columbia University, in direct retaliation for his advocacy in support of Palestinian rights. The First Amendment does not allow the government to retaliate against anyone for their speech.
