With gratitude for a grant from the Eno River Fellowship Foundation, a new digital sound board and equipment will be installed in the Sanctuary this summer, we are actively seeking dedicated sound volunteers to join ERUUF's Sound Team. Potential volunteers would be have a blend of technical audio skills, an artistic "ear," and good interpersonal communication.

New members will spend a period of time "shadowing" experienced sound techs during Sunday worship services, learning the technical skills necessary to run the sound board. Generally speaking, the following soft skills are useful:

  • A "Good Ear": The ability to listen critically and discern what a good, balanced mix should sound like in real time.
  • Quick Thinking & Problem Solving: The ability to stay calm and troubleshoot unexpected technical issues (e.g., feedback, equipment malfunction) quickly during a live service.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Working effectively with the worship leader, music director, and other tech team members, taking direction, and relaying information clearly.
  • Attention to Detail: Being thorough during setup, sound checks, and the service itself to ensure everything runs smoothly.
  • Adaptability: The willingness to learn new equipment and techniques as technology changes.

Our Sound Team plays a vital role in enhancing the worship experience both in person and online. If you would like to serve ERUUF in this important capacity, please contact Wendy Looker, Music Director.
