R.E. has been busy getting in the holiday spirit and connecting with one another. On December 4th R.E. hosted Nifty Gifty for parents to drop off their children to craft gifts for loved ones. Volunteers Cathy Kielar, Susan Baylies, Betsy Bickel, Laura Busse, Lillian Zwemer, Dana Thomas, Arco Williams, Robyn Heeks, Joel Smith, Jess Poland, Waverely Harrell, Barbara Berry & Kristin Wright created wonderful crafts and were so generous with their time and creativity. Jim Van Verth, Celena Urquia, and Barbara Busse helped supply materials for crafting. It was a marvelous morning and so delightful to be in community with each other, see the excitement of the children around giving, and create together (even the adults participated in the crafting). Thank you to all that made this such a successful event! See photos from Nifty Gifty here.
R.E. also celebrated the return of a long-standing ERUUF tradition, The Sock Hop, on December 5th. Bo Glenn, the coordinator of the ERUUF Homeless Action group, discussed homelessness with the children of R.E. and shared what each of us can do to help. D.J. Numinous Beats provided dance tunes, and even parents joined in on the dancing! Cards were crafted, warm clothes were collected for Urban Ministries, and Shawnna Keever coordinated the making of care packages for people experiencing homelessness. Thank you to all that provided items for the homeless and helped us warm up the dance floor! See photos from the Sock Hop here.
R.E. hosted a No-Rehearsal Pageant on December 12th. Directors Julia Jackson, JJ Lueck-Wright & Paul Baerman created a wonderful setup in the woods and led an enchanting retelling of the Christmas Story. Angels, shepherds, wise people, and animals all gathered to marvel at this story of love and light. Thank you to all who helped us retell this story in such a creative, heartwarming way.
