The rate of new covid cases is declining in North Carolina. By CDC measures the rate here is down to “substantial”(less than 5%) from a former “high” level. Our overall levels of those who’ve had one vaccine dose and those who are fully vaccinated have also risen dramatically. For these reasons, after checking with our team of medical professionals, we feel comfortable that we can safely welcome adults back to campus in person beginning Sunday, November 14 for the 11:00 am service with masks and social distancing. Children’s programs will continue as usual.

“Will the new minister hear me? Will my concerns and needs be met?  Will the minister understand what I’m living with? How will the community respond to our minister?’

In answering these questions, a picture of the “ideal minister” (categorized by age, gender identity, nationality, physical or cognitive ability, race, sexual orientation, etc.) comes to mind. With this picture in place, it can be easy to unintentionally exclude ministers who fall into certain categories. At times, as we get caught up in comparing candidates to our “picture,” we can even forget what it is we hoped for in a minister.

On the weekend of October 22–23, Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will participate in the Beyond Categorical Thinking workshop offered by the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) for congregations involved in the search for a new minister. The Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Ministerial Search Committee invites all congregational leaders, members, and friends to participate in this workshop.

Beginning Sunday, October 10, ERUUF’s Worship Associates will host an online gathering, “Reflect and Respond” at 12:15 pm.

This will be an opportunity for members and friends to gather each week to share thoughts about the morning’s sermon.   Worship Associates will be there to help organize the gathering, but we envision that the conversation will be generated by attendees’ participation. The discussion time is expected to last about 30 minutes., and the Zoom link will be available on the ERUUF website. All are welcome!

Mark your calendars for something new and different! This fall, in an effort to provide high-quality Sunday services and lighten the load on volunteers and staff, ERUUF and the UU congregation of Richmond, Virginia have agreed to a series of online Sunday service exchanges.
