This past Sunday, children and youth gathered to begin a new theme of the month: The Power of Paying Attention!

The PreK/K children started the class by playing a game of compliment toss, where they complimented each other and tossed a small ball around. Then, they learned about the importance of paying attention to our impact on others, and how nice words can go a long way. They also read the book Stick and Stone by Beth Ferry, and enjoyed the nice weather on the playground!

The 1st - 5th graders learned about the importance of paying attention to our relationship with water. They read the book I want to be a River by Cécile Elma Rogers, and made a river mural. Then, they split into groups based on interest. The craft group made watercolor paintings, while the game group went to the playground to do a walking water experiment.

The Middle School RE class discussed the importance of paying attention to their impact on others. They played a fun version of tag, discussed how compliments impact them, and did a blind art challenge.

High School and Middle School Youth Groups shared a lunch of pizza, soda, and fruit before splitting. Middle School spent some time planning for the remainder of the year, then played a few rounds of some fun relay games with balloons. High School spent the time in fellowship and planning for the upcoming lock-in.
