The ERUUF sanctuary, a beloved space, has recently been improved through the hard work and generosity of our members. Almost two years ago, an aesthetics team began to search for a new chalice to replace a pottery one that had broken. Thanks to ERUUF member, Mary Etta Goes, we were able to locate the California craftsman who made the bronze chalice used at UUA General Assembly, and we ordered his work in three sizes.

ERUUF’s Board of Trustees welcomes new members Ed Hoefle and Carolyn Lekavich to the Board this year. We are grateful that Julie Edmunds and Bob Brown (Finance Liaison) agreed to continue to serve (Julie for one year and Bob for a full 3-year-term). Other board members are Bonnie LaCroix (Chair), Albert Hardy, Lenora Harris-Field (Secretary), Joan Tilghman, and Helen Wolfson.
World Aids Day Activities at ERUUF
In honor of World AIDS Day, Dec. 1
- ERUFF will display 24 panels from the Names Project Memorial Quilt from November 27 - December 2.
In partnership with the Alliance of AIDS Services- Carolina (AAS-C):
- Provide free, confidential HIV/STI testing and between the hours of 10 am and 1 pm and then again between 3 pm-7 pm. Additionally, the Alliance will distribute safer sex information, condoms, lube and dental dams; Monday, December 2
- Host a toy drive for AAS-C families Sunday, November 3 through Sunday November 1.
- Host a food drive for AAS-C families Sunday, November 24-Sunday December 1.
- AAS-C will host a reception following service on December 1 (time to be determined. )
Poet Jimmy Baca to Perform at ERUUF, Carolina Theater
Acclaimed Poet Jimmy Santiago Baca is visiting Durham this October, and making a stop at ERUUF for a special service on Sunday October 27th followed by a collaborative performance with jazz violin virtuoso Christian Howes, on Friday, November 1st in the ERUUF Sanctuary.
